The Details
I am a home-based tutor, but I will also tutor in public spaces. I believe the student must be as comfortable as possible to facilitate learning. The quietest and most familiar space is the most effective, and that is usually the student's own home.
My service area is a circle with a roughly 15-mile radius from Portland International Airport. I will also do remote tutoring via videoconferencing, but my recommendation is in-person tutoring whenever possible.
I have been in business since February, 2015 and have worked with over 90 students in that time. I work with ages 8 and up.

What's in a Name?
From February 2015 until the spring of 2022, I was a tutor first in Denver, CO (elevation 5,280 feet) and then in Boulder, CO. Although the elevation where I currently live and practice is quite a bit different, I have kept the name. I now prefer to think of the 5280 as signifying "I'm willing to walk a mile in your shoes." My objective is to understand the learning journey of each of my students. If I can successfully walk a mile in their shoes, their later steps in learning should be easier.
